Signs of divisiveness, discrimination and stigmatization caused by Jeffrey Beall's “predatory” open access publishing blacklists and philosophy

Jeffrey Beall, a US librarian, coined the term “predatory publishing” specifically to describe movement or phenomenon of open access (OA) journals and publishers that he others believed displayed exploitative unscholarly principles. Using blog transmit those ideas, profiling specific cases using blacklists, one most polemic aspects Beall's was its tendency attract incite academic radicalism. Beall targeted both standalone journals, but how precisely determined an OA journal publisher predatory in many ambiguity. deficient highly subjective criteria, as well blacklists' incapacity clearly distinguish low quality from ones, may have negatively impacted operations several Beall-blacklisted publishers.
